I totally get the Dolce and Gabbana thing. When I lived in California I had multiple closets stuffed with European designer clothing. Now I live in Europe and my tiny closet is crammed with plaid shirts from Sears. Mostly I don't think about it, but every so often, it catches me out: I live on a farm!
Plaid shirts from Sears! Lol! My father worked for Sears so ALL my childhood clothing was from Sears (we got a discount). :-) Remember Tuff skins Jeans?
I do miss wearing pretty clothes... so much so that I've actually started sewing. I'm trying to find a balance of pretty/functional clothing, knowing that whatever I wear will be instantly coated with a protective layer of mud.
Yes, Tuff Skins. Luckily I've never owned a pair of those, but I knew lots of boys who did.
And yep to the mud! I brought a very small number of clothing items with me when I moved here (alas, no little French or italian numbers among them) including a pair of white designer jeans. LOL. White. Designer. Jeans. I've worn them once in 13 years. But I haven't given up on wearing them a second time, someday!
That was really great, with nice subtleties in production that were very ....subtle. It is wonderful to get a bit clearer picture about who you were and who you are now, and the philosophy bits about it all. Thanks Greta. Who knows what my life will look like in a year, I was hell bent to leave this town (Portland OR) for a few destinations I have picked out. But after a convo with a friend today, I am looking at a few other ideas about renting out my house fully or partially if I live here. Will see. But the changes seem to be coming with the spring light and the wood dragon new year imminent, which is my sign in that Chinese astrology. I think you 'got sprung' from the cityjob just in time, I am 60 later this year and am feeling a bit overwhelmed at the thought of relocating, moreso than I anticipated!
Thank you Jackie! I’m having fun doing it. I’m glad we left when we did, especially considering what’s happened with real estate. I hope you can work it out. The laws are heavily weighted in favor of renters now though, so I’d make sure renting is a good long term choice first. Once they’re in, you can’t get them out… Portland makes it very hard on owners.
Relocating is difficult. If you have lots of friends and connections there, it’s hard to leave. At our age, especially, it’s hard to make new friends (was it ever easy!?). I hope doors open for you ♥️
White jeans! Hilarious!!
