Loved this article, we live in the Okanogan Highland in Washington State. We are also high desert cold winters and HOT summers, thinking you guys might be somewhere around us?
We use drip irrigation because it is a must for us to conserve on water. We came from the west side of the state and moved here about 12 years ago. It was such change from gardening on the coast. I would not change it for the world. I love gardening here. Our garden is about 6 years old now and boy have I learned a lot over 6 years.
Hello neighbor! Yes, we are in the same general area and also came from the same general area. :-) Gardening here is totally different and very challenging. I'll bet you've learned an amazing amount in 6 years!
My husband Jeff and I both work at Midway. I am in the office and Jeff is the rental manager. If you are ever down shopping, please stop in and say hi we would both love to meet you guys! We just found your videos, so we have been watching them. You're both doing a great job. It's so fun to watch homesteaders in our area, not so easy in the high desert. We are always learning new stuff !
Wow! We're not there as often as we once were when we were renting trenchers and such, but we'll look for you next time we're in. In fact, we tend to run into Dave everywhere! :-) I'm not sure he knows about our channel though... Thanks so much for your kind comments and for watching our videos!
So interesting to see what you've learned and how you've grown! Glad your hand-drip system is saving you time and beneficial to your plants; we'd love to try that in the future! Also interested to see how your different crops in the greenhouse do!
It's fun for us to look back and see our progress, too. In the midst of it, you don't always realize how far you've come unless you stop and look back. So far, this has been a good year for the gardens!
Drip irrigation saves so much water! People are dumb. Also, I fully embrace my laziness. I use a timer to water my garden. Question: Did you use a greenhouse kit? I love your greenhouse and want to know where to get it.
I like to say "efficiency" instead of laziness :-)
We got both our greenhouses at Home Depot. They're the Bella type by Palram. I think we bought 8X12 with three extension kits each so we ended up with 8' X 20'. It appears the price has gone up quite a bit since we bought ours.
